It happened... It happens !!!

Nithi being an extrovert was the one who would always start a conversation with her cute smiling face and would lighten even the dullest persons day. Even if it were a single day that she was not found, her phone would keep ringing just to enquire what was wrong and why she never turned up to the office. Her team was suppose to be her family, whether it was a problem with a friend, or their lover or any thing for that matter, all her teammates found it easy to discuss with her but, she never opened her heart even when she was full of worries. Though she could never solve any of their worries, she would always listen to them and support them emotionally.

It was her birthday, a day she completed 26 years in this world, if not having achieved anything really great, she conquered many peoples heart and one such person whom she completely changed was sujan. As Nithi was hunting for her lunch box inside her jute bag, she found a card and an envelope; with a quick sparkle in her eyes she opened the card. She said to herself that it must be none other than sujan who would have given her this surprise. Yes she was always right and it was him who left behind his sign as “with love, your dear”. Nithi exclaimed that it was he – her sujan and for him to give this surprise he never wished her from the morning, which made her day dull, but now she felt spell bound by this surprise. A simple card from him satisfied all her desires, her expectations. She never expected anything big – but a card from him was something big for her. She could not control smiling or rather blushing since it was the very first time that sujan had gifted her with a card after she knowing him for about 7 years. Nithi began to open the envelope and found about a dozen papers stapled together, she started reading his words.

Sujan was basically a timetable man, a person who plans and works out things, a person who opens his mouth only when wanted and that too with counted number of words. People who knew him a little called him an emotionless person, but it’s a fact that people who seem to be strong outside are the ones who are really weak and expect more love, this only nithi was able to find out. She was his college mate, classmate, friend, well-wisher, advisor and finally became everything for him.

Nithi and sujan were talked as the best couple among their friends list. It was Nithi who expressed her wish to be a wife of sujan and sujan too accepted for the same with the single sentence stating, “No one other than you could understand me better. I am gifted and thanks for letting me know”. They never met each other even after this proposal. Mobile was their only means of communication. As it always happens her parents were strong, they were not ready to have a guy from a different caste to be a part of their family. She was not ready to leave him away; a life without him was a nightmare for her and for him too. At last she won in the battle, somehow made her parents accept him. Wedding bells rang; she was by his side forever. Two years passed by, each day was blissful for them. During all this time sujan had never presented nithi with anything, either it be a birthday or friendship day or Valentines Day or for that matter their wedding day, he always just wished her by words. But nithi on the other hand would give him the cutest possible gift possible, be it a pen or book or CD or clock or show piece or a diary and even once prepared a timetable card filled with his routine schedule for a week, she always selected the one he liked or rather he loved anything that she gave.

He was having his 3 months old son in his hand and sat in front of the neurologist along with his gal. Sujan had terrible back pain for the pasts one-month that lead him to take up many test and finally was ready to receive the reports from the neurologist. The motor pathway (The chain of nerve cells that runs from the brain through the spinal cord out to the muscle is called the motor pathway) of his body has got affected and due to this he would be paralyzed at the earliest was the statement from the doctor side. There life became dark, love life ended in a minute with these words from the doctor, all dreams to be together for hundred years crashed off in minutes.

Nithi as always-consoled sujan, made him feel comfortable some how and let her depression out by tears when sujan was not around. Nithi was sure that she could save sujan, she prayed with all the belief that her prayers will/should be answered. Sujan was trying to be normal for the successive days and as Nithi’s birthday was nearing, for the first time sujan selected a card for Nithi spending nearly three hours to select an apt card for her. Something was very badly troubling him, he was not sure whether he was going in a right direction or not. He was not ready to make his gal suffer for her lifetime with him. He was not able to imagine him in a bed paralyzed and making his loving dear to suffer without giving any pleasure, all these thoughts troubled him like hell. Finally he decided, took a piece of paper and started writing how much he loved Nithi, it went on for pages. He could not stop at any time; this was completely abnormal for him since he had never done this before. After expressing his love, he added his last wordings for nithi… “Nithi I can never see you in trouble, I love you so much that I can never see you worry for me, I don want to put U in pain for a life time… U have done everything for me, U have been everything for me; I have even killed you asking you to divorce me and marry someone when I knew my condition. I am sorry my dear for those words. I know you can never do it, but I could not help saying it you. It’s all because… I love you! I can also not imagine myself in bed for my lifetime. I am selfish my dear… I am leaving U… I am leaving this painful world. I am sorry…U know something Nithi, I am really happy to leave this world on your special day – your birthday, no other day would be apt my dear… I leave behind my love expressed in the form of words in pages for U, only this much I was able to do for you my dear. Never bring up our son like me, let him not be selfish like me… the time when you are reading this, I would not be with you forever. Take care my dear… I will always be near you admiring the way you speak with me as I always do… forgive me my dear…” with tears he made a full stop to everything. He folded the letter and kept it in Nithis bag along with the card.

As nithi left the house for her office he left the world, leaving nithi alone!!!
